Internships at the KU

The Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt (KU) offers various opportunities for completing unpaid internships. You can complete an internship at the KU, particularly as part of your high school, college, or vocational training.

What types of internships are available?

An internship is possible if it

  • is required by school regulations, vocational training regulations, or university regulations, or is completed as part of a program at a legally recognized vocational academy (gesetzlich geregelte Berufsakademie),
  • serves as orientation for vocational training or a degree program and lasts no more than three months,
  • is completed alongside vocational or higher education for a maximum of three months, provided that no previous internship relationship with the KU has existed,
  • or takes place as part of an entry-level qualification under Section 54a of SGB III or vocational training preparation under Sections 68 through 70 of the Vocational Training Act (BBiG).

The KU offers only unpaid internships.

Application and Internship Agreement

For every internship, signing of an Internship Agreement is mandatory. The Human Resources Department prepares the agreement. It must be signed before the start of the internship.

Please submit your application via e-mail to the Human Resources Department at praktikum(at)ku.de and include appropriate documentation of the required internship, such as a school certificate or the relevant academic or vocational training regulations.

A special provision applies to FOS/BOS internships: The allocation of internship positions for students at the FOS/BOS schools in Ingolstadt and Eichstätt is handled directly between the schools and the KU. Direct applications to the KU are not possible in these cases and therefore cannot be considered.

Allocation of internship positions

Internship positions are allocated by the respective departments, faculties, or institutions where the internship is to be completed. In doing so, the respective department checks in advance whether the necessary technical and personnel resources are available to provide qualified and comprehensive supervision of the interns. This is intended to ensure that the interns gain good insight into the respective fields of work and that the internship is a rewarding experience for all involved.
