KU degree programs Geography and Political Science lead in CHE ranking 2018

The current CHE university ranking confirmed the positive reputation of the KU among students: The study options in the programs Geography and Political Science were repeatedly rated top level in the ZEIT university guide. In this year’s survey published by the Centrum für Hochschulentwicklung (CHE), students in the KU Geography program have stated, as in previous years, that they were very satisfied with their study situation overall and with the personal support provided. They also praised the study conditions – such as accessibility of courses and good coordination of learning content as well as great leeway when it comes to choosing their own field of specialization. Students also noted that the Geography program offered excellent professional opportunities.

Compared to the rest of Germany, the KU Political Science degree program is among the best study offers in this field. Students of this Eichstätt course of study awarded the best rating for aspects such as courses offered, support provided during the course of study, professional relevance or library equipment. The study conditions, the possibility for a stay abroad and the overall impression of the study situation also scored top. The KU Political Science program is leading in almost all categories evaluated by students. Just as their peers in the geography sector, students in the field of political science particularly emphasized the positive social climate among students and lecturers and the attractive study offers from international partner universities.

Students questioned on the subject area of mathematics praised the support for students during the course of study and the study conditions both for Bachelor degree programs and teaching programs. Particularly positive ratings were awarded for the very small course groups as this enables excellent supervision and support and every student can be sure to get a place in the seminar. The students in the Nursing degree program awarded top ratings for the program’s practical focus.

The Bachelor’s degree program in Geography offers students the opportunity to gain fundamental knowledge and methodological skills in various areas of geography, as well as core skills and advanced analytical skills in their chosen specialization. The following specializations are available at the KU: “Leisure, Tourism and Environment”, “Physical Geography” or “General Geography”.

The interdisciplinary Bachelor’s degree program in Politics and Society at the KU is aimed at applicants with an interest in political science and sociology. It combines the study of international, national, and regional dimensions of politics from the perspective of political science with a sociological view of social structures, players, and problems. Furthermore, the KU offers a Bachelor’s degree program in German and French Political Science together with the French “Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Rennes”. Students of this degree program study both in Eichstätt and Rennes.

The CHE ranking, which has been carried out for 20 years, is the most comprehensive and detailed ranking in the German-speaking world and covers 30 subjects. It compares over 300 universities and Fachhochschulen and more than 150,000 students participate in the survey. Every subject is revaluated in a three-year cycle. In addition to facts on studies, teaching and research, the raking also takes a closer look at how students assess the study conditions at their university.
