History

The KU was granted university status on April 1, 1980, by the Bavarian bishops. Its roots can be traced back to the 16th century.

Rankings & awards

In the rankings published by the Center for Higher Education Development (CHE) or magazines such as the “Wirtschaftswoche”, a German weekly business news magazine, KU subjects such as Business Administration (Ingolstadt School of Management), Geography or Political Science (Eichstätt) are regularly awarded top rankings. Top positions for KU

Every three years, the ranking of the Center for Higher Education Development (CHE) updates the assessments for one third of the subjects at universities in Germany. According to the CHE, the ranking is the most comprehensive and detailed comparison of higher education institutions in the German-speaking world, with around 120,000 students surveyed and more than 300 universities and colleges examined.

The positive ratings confirm the above-average results that KU also regularly achieves in other surveys, such as the study quality monitor (Studienqualitätsmonitor), the evaluation portal StudyCheck or the Bavarian Graduate Survey.
