Prof Kropač is the new President of the AKRK

The annual conference of the AKRK (Arbeitsgemeinschaft Katholische Religionspädagogik und Katechetik) with the title "Religionsdidaktik in ihren Spannungsfeldern - eine Ortsbestimmung" took place from 19 to 21 September in the retreat house St. Paulus in Leitershofen. During the conference, the AKRK General Assembly was held on Friday evening. A new President was elected: Prof. Dr Ulrich Kropač (Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt) will lead the AKRK from 2024 to 2026, taking over from Prof. Dr Angela Kaupp (University of Koblenz-Landau). Prof. Dr. Kaupp served as President from 2018 to 2024.

The AKRK is an international association of religious educators. It has around 280 members from Germany, Austria and Switzerland who work in various fields, e.g. at universities, colleges of education, universities of applied sciences and academies. The main objectives of the AKRK are to network and promote research and to represent the interests of its members in the academic landscape and in church and educational policy contexts. To this end, it cooperates with the German Association of Catechists (DKV), the Protestant Association for Scientific Religious Education (GwR) and other national and international institutions and experts.
