All reading rooms are closed for one hour during the day for ventilation and cleaning; during this time, all users must leave the reading room.

The number of users who may be in the reading rooms at the same time is strictly limited depending on the size of the reading room. Upon presentation of the KU.Card or user ID, library users receive an admission card at the entrance; the date and time of entering and leaving the reading room are stored for a period of four weeks together with the contact data in case contact tracing should become necessary (Datenschutzhinweis).

In the foyers of the Library, in the reading rooms and at scanning and printing terminals, the minimum distance of 1.5 meters and the obligation to wear a face mask must be adhered to. However, library users are allowed to take their face mask off at their desks.

Due to the hybrid semester, University Library stocks can still be used with extended loan periods. Media from the reference collection (reading rooms) can be borrowed for a period of up to two weeks. The usual lending conditions apply to media obtained from the magazine or via interlibrary loan.
