Video streaming via your library

Movies, documentaries, series: KU members can currently use the services of the two video streaming services AVA and Kanopy free of charge.

In the field of humanities and cultural studies, films are becoming increasingly important as a scientific source and are important teaching and research objects. That is why KU members can temporarily test the two streaming services AVA and Kanopy free of charge.

AVA

AVA provides access to European and international arthouse cinema of all genres. Participating universities are provided with a broad and thematically curated catalog of feature films, short films, and documentaries through the platform.

You can access AVA from the university campus network, with VPN client, or via Shibboleth.

Kanopy

Als On-Demand-Streaming Video-Dienst für Bildungseinrichtungen und Bibliotheken bietet Kanopy Zugriff auf Filme, Dokumentationen, Serien und Lehrvideos aus allen Fachbereichen – vorwiegend in englischer Sprache.

As an on-demand streaming video service for educational institutions and libraries, Kanopy offers access to films, documentaries, series and instructional videos from all subject areas – primarily in English.

Kanopy works directly with filmmakers and film distribution companies, providing material from the Media Education Foundation, PBS and the BBC, among others. Some films are DRM-protected.
