Frontiers in Service 2023 Conference, Maastricht, Netherlands, June 2023

Prof. Shashi Matta and our chair members and doctoral candidates Nathalia Rogova and Maximilian Bauer presented their research at the Frontiers in Service 2023 Conference in Maastricht, NL. This year’s conference theme was “From Romans to Robots - Service Researche in (E)motion.”

Natalia presented our joint work on why service complaints from some consumers are taken more seriously than those of others, and Maximilian co-presented our work with Gonzalo Luna Cortés and Shanshan Liu on consumers’ privacy literacy and its effect on marketplace behaviors. 

Prof. Matta further kickstarted the Doctoral Consortium with LEGO. He enjoyed conducting a LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® session, "Spark your Creativity: Shape your Service Research,” for over 100 doctoral students from all over the world.

IPDMC 2023 Conference, Lecco, Italy, June 2023

Prof. Shashi Matta and our chair member and doctoral candidate Maximilian Bauer presented their research at the 30th Innovation and Product Development Management Conference in Lecco, IT, one of the leading Innovation conferences in academia.

This year’s IPDMC started with an immersive doctoral workshop. A superb opportunity to engage with experienced and renowned innovation researchers from the field as well as to get to know and work with peers on thought-provoking exercises. Prof. Matta and Maximilian co-presented their research on Open Innovation on Small and Medium Sized Enterprises. In their research, Prof. Matta and Maximilian develop and test a conceptual model linking key variables that affect Open Innovation activity and innovation performance in SMEs. In total, they gathered insights from over 215 top-level and innovation managers. They’re thrilled to have learned so much about innovation and growth strategies from top executives and innovation managers from SMEs, the backbone of the Germany economy.

2023 Winter AMA Academic Conference, Nashville, USA, February 2023

Prof. Shashi Matta and our chair member and doctoral candidate Maximilian Bauer presented their research at the 2023 American Marketing Association’s AMA Winter Academic Conference in Nashville, Tennessee, USA. This year’s conference theme was “Marketing During Times of Change.”

Prof. Shashi Matta presented his joint work with Maximilian Bauer on “Privacy Literacy and its Effect on Marketplace Behavior: Scale Development, Evidence, and Comparison across Six Countries.” In this research project, Prof. Shashi Matta and Maximilian Bauer develop and validate a scale of consumers’ Privacy Literacy (PL) which predicts how consumers’ knowledge about privacy affects related marketplace behaviors. They further validated the scale in six studies with over 2,400 respondents across six countries and in three languages.

 

2023 IMM Summit, Bamberg, Germany, January 2023

Our chair member and doctoral candidate Maximilian Bauer and Prof. Shashi Matta presented their research at the 6. Industrial Marketing Management Summit in Bamberg.

Maximilian Bauer presented his joint work with Prof. Matta on “Open Innovation Activity and Innovation Performance in Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs): A Conceptual Framework and Empirical Investigation.” In this research project, Maximilian Bauer and Prof. Shashi Matta fill a gap in the innovation literature by enhancing the understanding of OI activity in SMEs. They develop and test a conceptual model linking key variables that affect OI activity and innovation performance in SMEs. They further developed grounded theory and conducted a mixed-method approach to derive managerially relevant recommendations for SMEs and innovation managers.

The summit hosted a select cohort of 80 researchers from 13 countries which offered a great opportunity to exchange research ideas and connect with fellow researchers from the field.
