Main areas of research

  • Until 1989 mainly economic and social statistics, including statistical models for sociological and microeconometric applications.
  • Since 1989 primarily concentration on statistical forecasting methods (e.g. early warning systems, forecast evaluation, sales forecasting) and data mining.
  • 2008-present: Forecasting methods for sporadic demand patterns for warehousing and spare parts stocking as well as forecasting commodity prices (including agricultural commodities).
  • Since 1977 until today: Data science, computational statistics, including software development (e.g. R), databases and operating systems.
  • Since 2011 until today: Monitoring and forecasting of prices of high-tech products and agricultural commodities.
