Guest Lectures: Tourism in Africa - development support and intercultural competence

We are delighted to welcome Dr. Patrick S. Merten and Hannu Garny at WFI for two guest lectures.

Patrick Merten is founder and managing director of the tour operator KM individual GmbH and its brand Sinclair's Africa, which specialises in authentic Africa travel. Today he is one of the leading experts in travel to the African continent. He was also Dean and Professor of Tourism Management at the Cologne Business School (CBS) in Cologne and the IBA Freiburg.

Hannu Garny was born in South Africa, studied geology at Stellenbosch University and has been travelling between Cape Town and Mount Kilimanjaro for two decades, not only as a tour guide, but also studying African cultures and people. Raised in the Kalahari and trained as a Safari Ranger & Nature Guide, his knowledge of authentic Africa is endless.
