WFI Summer School 2018 Review

The WFI Summer School took place between June 16 and 28, 2018, and followed the theme “Firms in Society”. Within these two weeks, students from all over the world and WFI students were able to participate in exciting courses and a varied social program.

On Monday, June 16, 2018, the participants were welcomed in the rooms of the Ingolstadt School of Management (WFI) and then went on the first day trip to Neuschwanstein Palace. In addition to a city tour, there was also an Audi factory tour, as well as a company visit to LEDVANCE in Eichstätt. Moreover, there was a manager talk with Thomas Sattelberger and a research talk with Devin Pope, which were received with pleasure by the WFI Summer School participants of 2018.

Besides numerous professors from WFI, the lecturers of the WFI summer school included Prof. Dr. Devin G. Pope of the Chicago Booth, responsible for the course "Negotiations and Behavioral Economics".

Two WFI professors, Prof. Dr. Thomas Setzer and Prof. Dr. André Habisch, held the course "Digital Technologies and Data-Driven Decision Support Systems in Business and Public Operations". Prof. Dr. Harald Pechlaner was responsible for the course "Entrepreneurship versus Leadership: The role of personalities in changing societies". In addition, the module "The Ethics and Economics of Profit Sharing and Employee Ownership" was given by Prof. Dr. Jörg Althammer. Dr. Björn Schäfer held the lecture on "Innovation in a Hybrid Context: Social Business Ventures". Prof. Dr. Dominika Langenmayr in collaboration with Prof. Dr. Reinald Koch gave a presentation about "Corporate Tax Avoidance".

The WFI Summer School 2018 did not only facilitate numerous contacts, but also led to friendships between students from different universities.
