Tomorrow’s tourism: Understanding, rethinking, and shaping destinations of the future

The chair of tourism / center for entrepreneurship proudly welcomes dr. Jasper Heslinga at Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt. 
Tourism is increasingly shaped by rapid change, uncertainty, and global transformation. In this guest lecture, Dr. Jasper Heslinga introduces key approaches to futures thinking and their relevance for tourism development and strategy. The session explores trend analysis and horizon scanning to identify emerging signals and disruptions, and examines how technology, climate change, mobility, demographic shifts, and consumer behaviour shape tourism futures. Using practical examples, the lecture demonstrates how destinations and tourism organizations apply scenario planning and futures thinking to support strategic decision-making in complex environments.
Dr. Jasper Heslinga will hold his lecture in the course “Theory and Strategy in Destination Management and Marketing”. 
The lecture is open for any student or staff of Catholic University Eichstätt-Ingolstadt.
