Germany-wide Paper Atlas university competition

The KU is one of the most recycling-paper-friendly universities in Germany and ranks fourth in the “Papieratlas” university competition organized by the Pro Recyclingpapier 2025 initiative among colleges and universities that specifically use recycling paper bearing the Blue Angel label — the highest ecological standard for paper made exclusively from recycled materials. No harmful chemicals or optical brighteners are used in its production.

In 2025, the KU achieved an overall recycled paper rate of 99.24 percent. A total of 59 universities participated, collectively achieving an average recycled paper rate of 71 percent.
