Sustainability at the KU

For fifteen years now, the KU has been among the pioneers in Germany systematically aligning its overall development with global sustainability goals. The KU pursues a whole-institution approach and consistently implements sustainable development across six areas of action: teaching practice, research, university operations, governance, knowledge transfer, and student engagement.

As a center for research and teaching, the University is committed to integrating education for sustainable development and the teaching of creative and future-oriented skills into all degree programs as an integral part of teaching practice, and to positioning sustainability as an interdisciplinary research topic that is broadly embedded across all faculties. With its Green Office, the KU also has a central hub that brings together initiatives and drives momentum throughout the region.
