Summary

Frank Zirkl studied geography (Diplom; minors in geology and soil science) at the University of Tübingen and Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (Brazil).

In his doctoral thesis he investigated sustainable urban development in Brazil, concentrating on problems in urban waste disposal in the southern Brazilian city of Curitiba. The main focus of his work was on the general public’s participation in the municipal recycling program.
