THE Impact Ranking

THE Impact Ranking

For the first time in 2023, the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt (KU) participated in the international Impact Ranking by the renowned Times Higher Education (THE) — and achieved outstanding results right off the bat. Based on data from 2022, the KU ranked 55th out of 1,304 participating universities worldwide in the “Quality Education” (SDG 4) category.

This top international ranking impressively demonstrates the KU’s long-standing commitment to education for sustainable development. The KU also performed strongly in the areas of “Sustainable Consumption and Production” (SDG 12) and “Climate Action” (SDG 13): In both fields, it ranks among the top 20 percent of institutions globally. KU continued its successful participation in 2024 and 2025, once again positioning itself convincingly in international comparisons.

The ranking evaluated, among other things, strategic measures and concrete implementations in the areas of environmental protection and sustainability — including approaches to waste prevention and recycling, the use of renewable energy, sustainable building management, and collaboration with local governments to monitor and mitigate climate risks.
