What's behind all this?

KU is a small university with an international orientation. This is evidenced not only by numerous degree programs, such as the double degree programs, but also by the high level of international mobility of our students and lecturers. We must not overlook the fact that our academic staff make a decisive contribution to the success of this internationality. Why then should only students benefit from language courses? And why should only International Office staff gain experience abroad? In January 2019, KU FIT introduced its own continuing education certificate, KU FIT, with which the university management would like to value your motivation and willingness to learn new things and to approach foreign cultures. The promotion of internationalization and the associated establishment of the KU FIT certificate is also anchored in KU's personnel development concept. The program is made possible by the State Ministry of Science and the Arts, which provides the financial means to carry out the various events. The programme is an answer to your needs and is therefore subject to constant change. We would like to expressly encourage you to inform us of your concrete wishes for further education events in the international field. KU FIT is coordinated by the International Office of KU, contact person is Jessica Hofmacher.

How can I obtain the certificate?

The certificate consists of two or three components: Language training (English) - Intercultural training - Stay abroad. For KU FIT basic you need 20 points in the area of language training and 10 points in the area of intercultural sensitization. For KU FIT plus you will also complete a stay abroad as part of the Erasmus+ personnel mobility programme for further training purposes. If you already have English knowledge of B2 and therefore do not wish to take any additional English language courses, you can have this knowledge confirmed by the International Office on application. Note: Employees who have taken part in further training courses in the field of English and intercultural sensitisation since November 2017 can have this participation credited to KU FIT.

Participation in KU FIT events and courses can be credited against working hours if approved by your supervisor and deemed necessary or expedient in the interests of the service.
