The Invictus Games took place in Germany for the first time from September 9 to 16, 2023. Under the motto "A Home for Respect", Düsseldorf and the German Armed Forces hosted this international sporting event. The Invictus Games were launched in 2014 by Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex, and have since developed into a major event.

Over eight days, 500 competitors from 21 countries competed in ten disciplines that challenged them not only physically but also mentally. The games were not only a showcase for sporting competition, but also a demonstration of perseverance, team spirit and the irrepressible will to overcome obstacles.
The Invictus Games are not only a sporting challenge, but above all a way to strengthen the perception and recognition of soldiers in society and to support their path to rehabilitation. Over 150,000 people attended the games and showed their solidarity and support.
In addition to the sporting events, the event site also offered the "Invictus Village" action area. Here, various partners (e.g. the City of Düsseldorf), the German Armed Forces' own departments, such as the mission pilots and other partners from the aid network, including the ZFG, were able to present their work. The information area was open to all participants and the general public.
