It serves the common good by developing procedures and instruments that incorporate the scientific system's responsibility to society.

At a time when major challenges such as progressive anthropogenic climate change, digital transformation, and the challenges facing liberal democracies need to be overcome, a broad spectrum of research in the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences is required in order to further develop the conditions for positive social coexistence and actively shape the future.
