The Deutschlandstipendium at the KU

Supporting high-achieving and dedicated students and providing them with incentives to excel — that is what the Deutschlandstipendium is all about. The Deutschlandstipendium is the largest public-private partnership in the field of education in Germany to date.

The Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt also participates in this funding program.

Our student body is not only made up of many talented young people. KU students are highly engaged in civic, social, and cultural activities; many projects have come into being solely through the initiative, creativity, and motivation of our students.

The Deutschlandstipendium supports this diverse range of engagement, which is also essential for students to be able to begin their studies or complete them successfully. This is because it provides young people with financial security and the opportunity to focus fully on their education or studies, thereby enabling them to make a valuable contribution to various sectors of society through their qualifications and personal development. The scholarships, amounting to 300 euros per month, are funded equally by the federal government and by private sponsors, foundations, and companies.
Sponsors include corporations, small and medium-sized enterprises, foundations, and individual citizens. The Deutschlandstipendium fosters networks that benefit not only students but also the private sponsors and the universities. Providing targeted support to young people is one of the most rewarding investments, both personally and for society.

Be a part of it and get involved at the KU and support young talent with a Deutschlandstipendium!

Who can become a sponsor?

Any natural or legal person can sponsor a Deutschlandstipendium (companies, private individuals, institutions such as foundations, associations, or clubs). Contributions from public-law institutions such as savings banks, municipalities, or chambers of commerce are also considered private funds within the meaning of the Scholarship Program Act.

How does funding work?

  • You donate at least one annual scholarship in the amount of 1,800 euros — the other half of the scholarship is covered by the government funding program (= the standard procedure and the simplest way to award a scholarship to a Deutschlandstipendium recipient).
  • You donate a smaller amount—but at least a one-time donation of 150 euros. We pool all donations in our scholarship fund and use them to create annual scholarships. Depending on the amount of the smaller donation, however, it may take some time before we can award a full-value Deutschlandstipendium for one year, supplemented by other funds (= an option for participation if you are not in the position to sponsor a full annual amount).
  • As a sponsor, you can specify the field of study for the scholarship holders and offer them special opportunities (e.g., internships or professional development events).

What are the advantages of a funding contribution?

  • You support young talent. In doing so, you give back some of what you yourself received during your own education and contribute to corporate social responsibility.
  • With as little as 150 euros a month, you can fund a scholarship worth 300 euros a month. A full-year scholarship costs 1,800.00 euros. Of course, smaller amounts are also welcome. In that case, the private portion of the scholarship will be made up of contributions from several sponsors.
  • You can choose the field of study or degree program in which your scholarship will be awarded. As part of your funding commitment, you’ll work with the KU to determine what matters most to you.
  • You can participate in the selection procedure as an advisor.
  • You’ll connect with tomorrow’s top talent: In addition to financial support, you can offer non-monetary opportunities (e.g., internships or professional development events) and spark interest in your company.
  • You’ll strengthen your own role in the regional network—alongside the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt and the scholarship holders.
  • You can generally claim your sponsorship as a tax deduction.
  • You can showcase your commitment to the public, for example by using the sponsor logo or through a corresponding entry on the central information portal of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research for the Germany Scholarship.

With your support, you are sending a message that gets noticed. That is what our sponsor logo stands for. It gives you the opportunity to inform your business partners, customers, and friends about your commitment. It shows that you are supporting talented young people — for example, on your website or letterhead.
