Guest students

The KU offers the status of guest student. This option is popular among seniors, as it allows them to pursue a course of study tailored to their needs. However, guest student status is also popular among working professionals and those returning to academia, as it facilitates individual professional development and deepening of knowledge without the stress of exams or academic pressure.

Generally, all courses are open to guest students. However, regular students always have priority in cases of restricted participant numbers in classes. For language courses and degree programs with limited admission, written approval must be obtained from the Language Center or the dean of the faculty responsible for the course (see  application to study as a guest student). Guest students are not permitted to take exams. They may obtain certificates of attendance that indicate their guest student status.

The classical humanities, such as history, classical archaeology, art history, philosophy, and foreign languages, are particularly in demand.

Checklist of required documents for guest students

• Copy of valid ID card/passport
• Proof of payment of the semester fee (depending on the number of semester hours per week)
• Certified copy of high school diploma (minimum “secondary school leaving certificate”)
• For foreign nationals: Proof of residence permit
• Application for enrollemtn as a guest student fully completed and signed
