Studying with disabilities and chronic illnesses

The Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt is part of the project "eine Hochschule für Alle" - a university for everybody. If you are a student with a disability, a chronic illness, or another impairment, we will help you identify and overcome barriers in your daily academic life so that you can pursue your studies independently and successfully.

Impairments can be visible or invisible. These include, for example, mental health conditions, mobility, vision, or hearing impairments, speech and perceptual impairments, chronic illnesses, and specific learning disabilities.

Five steps to receiving adjustments to compensate for disabilities/impairments

  1. Seek advice: Make an appointment with the Officers for Students with Disabilities via studieren-mit-behinderung(at)ku.de. If you would like them to, the officers will also provide a recommendation regarding the type and extent of adjustments to compensate for disabilities/impairments, which you can include with your application.
  2. Obtain supporting documentation: Have a medical certificate issued that justifies the nature and extent of the adjustments to compensate for disabilities/impairments. This Letter to your doctor will help your doctor in creating a certificate with everything that needs to be included.
  3. Submit your application: Submit the original application and supporting documentation to the Examinations Office, preferably at the start of the semester and no later than the end of the exam registration period.
  4. Wait for the decision: The relevant Board of Examiners will make a decision and notify you and the Examinations Office of the result in writing.
  5. Inform your lecturers: Present the decision to your lecturers no later than four weeks before the exam.
