What makes studying Archaeology at the KU special for me is the close ties to museums and excavation firms in the region, as well as the strong interdisciplinary focus. Combining it with subjects like Ancient History or Art History results in a broad, well-rounded academic profile that opens up many career opportunities.

What excites me about Archaeology at the KU is the combination of theory and practice – for example, through archaeological drawing or educational excavations. The thematic overlaps with Ancient History and Art History, as well as small classes that foster close exchange, create an ideal learning environment.

Master Classical Archaeology

Bringing ancient history to fife: In the Master’s program in Classical Archaeology, students explore the material culture of the Greek and Roman worlds—from architecture and sculpture to mosaics, inscriptions, and tombs. The program covers a time span and geographic scope ranging from the Bronze Age to Late Antiquity and streching over the entire Mediterranean region.

Admission & application

To enroll in this degree program, you must submit an application directly through the KU university portal. The application deadline is September 1. If you earned your university entrance qualification abroad, please also submit your preliminary review documentation by July 15—also through the same portal.

Campus Eichstätt

Eichstätt combines a Baroque old town with canoe trips on the Altmühl River, open-air movies in the summer, and festivals such as the Altstadtfest and the Lichternacht—here, everyday student life meets a genuine zest for life.

Accommodation and living

Finding a place to live is part of planning for uni – whether it’s a dorm, a shared apartment, or your own apartment. Anyone coming to Eichstätt or Ingolstadt to attend uni should start looking for housing early.
