Teaching History

KU Scouts

Our KU Scouts are studying exactly what interests you – and provide you with honest insights straight from their everyday uni life.

History is more than just the past, and French is more than just grammar—both open up new perspectives on people, cultures, and society. The teaching degree program at the KU combines in-depth subject knowledge, hands-on training, and personal exchange in small seminar groups.

Teaching History

The teaching degree program in History is about much more than just dates and historical facts. Students engage critically with the past, the culture of remembrance, and the politics of history; they work with historical sources and develop a nuanced sense of judgment. Practical experience and international perspectives round out the program.

Admission & application

This degree program has no admission restrictions—you do not need to submit an application. Simply enroll directly through the KU university portal in August or September. If you earned your university entrance qualification abroad, please also submit your preliminary examination documentation by July 15—also through the same portal.

Campus Eichstätt

Eichstätt combines a Baroque old town with canoe trips on the Altmühl River, open-air movies in the summer, and festivals such as the Altstadtfest and the Lichternacht—here, everyday student life meets a genuine zest for life.

Accommodation and living

Finding a place to live is part of planning for uni – whether it’s a dorm, a shared apartment, or your own apartment. Anyone coming to Eichstätt or Ingolstadt to attend uni should start looking for housing early.

Financing your studies

Students at the KU finance their studies in various ways – from BAföG to scholarships to part-time jobs. You can find an overview of all the options on the page about financing your studies.

Uni life

Whether it's culture or sports, the academic year is filled with a wide variety of festivals and events. Unifest, Dies Academicus, the Wiesncup, and many more: at the KU, celebrating and community are an integral part of student life.

What other students say about the program

[Translate to English:] Beliebteste Uni Deutschlands 2026
