Anna has a clear goal in mind: the educational science student wants to revolutionize the German educational system. For her, it is essential that teaching be more focused on “personal development and self-expression.” In her view, the focus should be on the individual with their individual needs and desires, which they then fulfill out of intrinsic motivation.
Back in school, Anna's transfer certificate recommended that she attend an intermediate secondary school (Realschule). Only a few children in her 4th grade class received this recommendation instead of one for an upper secondary school, which is why Anna was teased. A boy in her class said to her, “You're so stupid—you're going to Realschule only.” This sentence has stayed with her to this day. Anna decided to learn at her own pace. She worked hard and made it to university. Now she wants to motivate others to learn for themselves and their own dreams.
Choosing her degree program was easy for Anna: having a keen interest in education due to her personal history, Anna opted for the KU Bachelor's degree program in Education. From the very beginning, she was enthusiastic about the broad spectrum of the program and its interfaces with other disciplines such as psychology, sociology, and philosophy. After all, education has many facets and encompasses the entire spectrum of knowledge, values, skills, and attitudes. “Education is not the same as learning”, explains Anna. It is a lifelong process that serves to broaden one's understanding of the world, shape one's personality, and develop social skills. In order to be able to support young people even better in the future, Anna is already completing training as a trainer at “My Fertility Matters”: This program complements sex education in schools and helps young people to better understand their own bodies.
With her determination and passion, Anna wants to help young people discover their abilities and develop their full potential in order to build a better and more just society. She wants to make her dream a reality: an educational landscape that is geared toward the individual needs of students.
