Most students worry about how to finance their living expenses during their studies. For students with impairments, this can be even more of a challenge. They often have additional costs and working next to studying is either not possible or only for a limited amount of time.

With many general scholarships (e.g. Deutschlandstipendium) you get special benefits if you have a disability or chronic illness, but there are also grants specifically for students with disabilities or chronic illnesses (e.g. Aktion Luftsprung, Stiftung Darmerkrankungen).
Mobility aids, technical aids, and other assistance necessary for equal participation in studies can usually be applied for through the integration assistance (Eingliederungshilfe) at the inclusion office (Inklusionsamt). Study assistance also falls within the remit of integration assistance.
In order to be approved, you must provide proof of disability in the form of an officially recognized degree of disability (e.g., a severely disabled person's pass) or a medical review. The responsibility of the cost-bearing institution and your financial situation will also be reviewed. It is also important that the expected completion of your studies is likely to occur. The exact asset and income limits vary depending on the benefit applied for and the individual circumstances. It is advisable to seek advice before submitting an application.
As a rule, entitlement to integration assistance for the purpose of studying only applies to a first degree. However, if a Master's degree program is being studied that is thematically relevant to a Bachelor's degree program, integration assistance may also be available. Entitlement may also exist in certain other cases, so it is advisable to seek individual advice.
If you want to study abroad and the semester abroad is part of your degree program, you will keep getting integration aid. If you want to stay abroad for your own reasons, there is a wide scope in which the Inklusionsamt can decide. Applications for integration aid can only be approved if the need for the integration aid has already arisen before the time of the stay abroad.
Depending on where they live and their individual circumstances, students in Eichstätt can get around in a sufficient manner on foot, by bike, and using public transportation. Unfortunately, Eichstätt train station does not have step-free access, and the station staff are unable to provide assistance through the Mobility Center. If you are unable to travel to the university in this way due to a disability, you can apply for a transport service or assistance with the purchase of a suitable car through the integration assistance (Inklusionsamt). Under certain circumstances, the costs of obtaining a driver's license may also be covered or subsidized.
