Information on university access for vocationally qualified persons without school-based university entrance qualification

If you do not have the Abitur or any other school-based university entrance qualification, but have been working for some time or have even passed an advanced vocational training examination (e.g. Meister, Fachwirt, etc.), you can still start your studies at a university under certain conditions.

Depending on your individual professional qualifications, you will be granted general university access or, after successfully completing a trial course, subject-specific university access.

Please note: The legal provisions on university access for vocationally qualified persons without a school-based university entrance qualification can be found in Sections 29 et seqq. of the Law on Qualification for Study (Qualifikationsverordnung) in the currently valid version.

Vocationally qualified persons: Please note that you have to have completed the required consultation appointment already before applying or being enrolled. More information for professionally qualified persons is available here.
