Borrowing

Self-checkout terminals are available in the Main Library, the Departmental Library Aula and the Ingolstadt Branch Library.

You can borrow freely available items from the reading rooms yourself during the library's opening hours. Ordered media and interlibrary loans are available for borrowing on the shelves in the collection area of the Central Library or the Ingolstadt Branch Library and can also be borrowed at the self-checkout terminals.

Ordered items that are only intended for use in the reading room can be obtained at the information desk.

In the Departmental Library Ulmer Hof you can borrow your items at the circulation desk/reading room supervisor.

Here is how the self-checkout works:

1. Get your books from the pick-up shelves or freely available titles from the shelves in the reading rooms
2. Scan the barcode of your KU.Card or library card at the self-checkout terminal or hold your card up to the RFID reader (KU.Card and electronic library cards with a green bar)
3. Place the books on the glass plate under the scanner – you can borrow several books at once
4. If you have booked all media, you can print out a receipt or have it sent to you – please note the loan periods specified on the receipt or in your user account
5. Log off your user account with the "Finished" button – you are liable for third-party entries on your user account if you forgot to log off after you finished your self-checkout process!

Notes:

•  Please check the borrowing status before borrowing – books with a red mark on the shelfmark label are not available for loan
• Your name is coded in the pick-up shelves, you will find your ordered media under the following identifier:
  • Main Library:
    The first letter of your last name and the last five digits of your library user number
    (Example: last name: Meier / library ID: 02772886089 → M 86.089)
  •  Ingolstadt branch library:
    The first three letters of your last name followed by the last four digits of your library user number
    (Example: last name: Meier / library user number: 02772886089 → MEI 6089)
• Interlibrary loans:
  • In Eichstätt you will find your interlibrary loans in the pick-up shelves of the lending area in the Main Library
  • In Ingolstadt you will find your interlibrary loans in the pick-up shelf just to the right after the entrance door to the reading room
  • You can obtain copies of articles at the information desk
• Ordered items that are only intended for use in the reading room can be obtained at the information desk
