The chair represents the French and Spanish literatures from the Middle Ages to the present through research and teaching. Special focus is placed on Ibero-American literatures and cultures in cooperation with the Central Institute for Latin American Studies (ZILAS).

Eichstätt is one of the few German universities where Latin American Studies is represented with its own degree program and numerous international partnerships.
