Course content: The course “Retail Management” / “Retail Management Fundamentals” focuses on retail companies across various industries. It covers both retail (B2C) and wholesale (B2B). The course combines two key perspectives: First, the internal perspective, which is more logistics- and procurement-oriented (e.g., shelf space planning, delivery and procurement logistics, supply chain management). Second, the external, sales- and distribution-oriented perspective (e.g., e-commerce, multichannel management, manufacturer-retailer collaboration, category management). The instructors for the course come from various academic disciplines—such as logistics and marketing. The goal is to cover as many different perspectives on retail management as possible.
Course format: The course consists of lectures in the style of a seminar series, as well as engaging, practical guest lectures from companies (which may include a field trip). The final assessment for this course consists of a written final exam (100%).
