Final theses

We are delighted that you are interested in writing your final thesis (Bachelor or Master) at the Chair of Business Ethics, esp. Corporate Governance. Please note the following aspects that are relevant for acceptance of a thesis.

1 Requirements

A requirement for acceptance is that you have taken and successfully completed at least one module of the professorship in your respective degree program. It is also recommended, but not mandatory, that you have written a (introductory) seminar paper at our professorship already.

2 Topic

You are responsible for proposing the topic of your thesis. For inspiration, you can for example have a look at our main research areas or the courses offered by the professorship. The choice of your final thesis topic will then be finalized in consultation and agreement with you.

3 Registration process

We offer the opportunity of writing your final thesis at our professorship at any time. However, we point out that there is no binding claim on the part of the student to the acceptance of a thesis by the professorship. This decision is made in particular against the background of available supervisory capacities. You are generally free to choose when you would like to start working on your thesis. Please note, however, that both the preliminary discussion and the assessment of the work take a certain amount of time.

Interested students are asked to send the following documents and information by e-mail to our secretary’s office (sekretariat-corpgov(at)ku.de):

  • Résumé in table form
  • Current overview of grades
  • Planned period for working on the thesis
  • Topic area of your choice
  • If applicable, please indicate the courses you are currently taking at the professorship
4 Acceptance and discussion of the topic

Once your application has been received by the secretary’s office, your supervisor will contact you as soon as possible and arrange an initial meeting with you to finalize your thesis topic. We kindly ask you to bring your completed application for a Bachelor's/Master's thesis topic (please leave topic blank) as issued by Department IV/5 (Examinations Office) to this appointment.
