There is an examination board for each degree program. The examination board is responsible for ensuring that the Bachelor's or Master's examinations are conducted properly. It is therefore responsible for all examination-related issues in the degree program and for student applications.
The tasks of the examination boards include the following:
Processing extension requests regarding the processing time for Bachelor's and Master's theses.
Appointment of second examiners.
Deciding whether withdrawal from a module examination is possible for reasons beyond the candidate's control.
Deciding on the recognition of reasons and the duration of an extension (e.g., extension of the maximum duration of study).
Crediting of skills.
Admitting students to a module examination if the student in question has intentionally obtained admission under false pretences, as well as deciding on the possible exclusion of students from examinations.
Decision on whether the student has attempted to influence the result of an examination by deception for their own or another person's benefit.
Decision on deficiencies in the examination procedure.
Decision on further entries in the Diploma Supplement.
Decision on the subsequent correction of module grades and the subsequent declaration of the Bachelor's or Master's examination as “failed” in whole or in part.
Cooperation in appeal proceedings with the legal department, which issues notices of remedy and appeal.
Decision on applications for the granting of compensation adjustments for disabilities/impairments.
The members of the examination board are elected for a term of four years by the relevant faculty council to which the program spokesperson belongs. The examination board elects the chair and their deputy.
The legal basis for the composition and tasks of the examination boards is the General Examination Regulations of the KU.
