Reminders
Five days before the loan period expires, we will remind you by e-mail that the borrowed media must be returned in time. Where applicable, you can renew items yourself in your library account.
These reminder e-mails are a service offer of the University Library. Please ensure that you have notified the University Library of your current e-mail address. If you have not received a reminder e-mail, this will not give rise to any legal claims. Every library user is obliged to take care of the loan periods in their own responsibility.
Returning books during service hours
You can return your borrowed media during the service hours at the lending desks. Please return the media to the library location where you borrowed them. This will help to ensure that the books return to their original location more quickly and are available for others to use.
A library card is not necessary for returning books. Borrowed books can also be returned by third parties. Please note that you as the borrower are liable for orderly return of the book.
Returning books outside service hours
Return machine
The Ingolstadt Branch Library has a return machine in the foyer of the faculty building. Here, you can return books independently during the opening hours of the building.
Please make sure that everything is complete. In the case of interlibrary loans, the posting strips must be in the book. You do not need an ID card at the return machine. Simply tap on "Klappe öffnen” (open lid) and push the books onto the conveyor belt one by one. You can then print out a receipt or have it sent to you by e-mail.
Return boxes
Outside our service hours, the book return boxes in the foyer of the Main Library and in the Departmental Library 1 "Ulmer Hof" are available for you to use. You can access the return boxes while the building is open. The books will be registered as “returned” in the morning of the following day.

If you want to return your books by mail, we recommend that you send them as a ‘Büchersendung’ (book shipment) or by registered mail. Please make sure that the packaging is suitable and stable. If you have any questions or are unsure about something, please do not hesitate to contact us: bibliothek(at)ku.de or ub-wfi@ku.de.
Please note that the internal processing may take a few days. Therefore, please send your media back in time. The date of registration of the returned media at the library and not the postmark is decisive for compliance with the loan period.
