The aim of the presentation was to provide an overview of the taxation of funds and their investors. Mr Härtwig began by giving an overview of the fund industry, its participants and the basic structure of an investment fund. He also explained the scope of the Investment Tax Act. After this general classification, Mr Rümenapp explained the principles of taxation of investment funds at fund and investor level. He specifically addressed the advance lump sum and the partial exemption. Special attention was also paid to the 2018 investment tax reform, which has led to fundamental changes in the tax treatment of investment funds. A final case study helped the participants to consolidate the theoretical principles they had learned. PwC's presentation provided valuable insights into the complex subject matter and highlighted possible solutions to practical issues. After the presentation, PwC Frankfurt invited the students to a joint dinner where they had the opportunity to exchange ideas and ask further questions.
