On 29 April, we welcome Dr. Erika Zerwes, Fellow at the Käte Hamburger Kolleg Global Dis:Connect at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich.
In her lecture “Between Latin America and Europe: The Institutionalization of Photography”, Erika Zerwes explores how Latin American photography became internationally visible in Europe during the late 1970s and 1980s. The talk examines the role of transnational exchanges, institutional networks, and political and cultural tensions in shaping this process, while also addressing the decolonial challenge of writing this history beyond Eurocentric frameworks.
