PhD Workshop of the Graduate Program in Operations Management at WFI

Last Friday, the Chair of Logistics and Operations Analytics hosted the PhD Workshop of the Graduate Program in Operations Management (GPOM) here at the WFI – Ingolstadt School of Management.

The workshop brought together around 70 researchers from the field of Operations Reserach for academic exchange and discussion. Participants included PhD candidates and their supervising professors from seven universities and higher education institutions, among them the Technical University of Munich (with its campuses in Straubing, Weihenstephan, and Heilbronn), the University of Augsburg, and the University of Passau. The event provided an interdisciplinary platform to discuss how organizational processes in companies, public administrations, and institutions can be designed more efficiently and reliably.

In two parallel sessions, 13 doctoral researchers presented their current research projects, followed by discussions with peers and faculty members. The presented topics reflected the broad scope of Operations Management research and included, among others, a web-based shift scheduling system for physicians in healthcare, the use of autonomous delivery robots in transportation, as well as projects in agricultural production, machine learning, and optimization.
