Born 10.04.1950 in Vereya, Moscow region (Russian Federation).

Prof. Dr., chief research fellow in the centre "History of Eastern Europe in antiquity and Middle Ages" of the Institute for General History of Russian Academy of Sciences; chief of the Department for classical languages in the historical Faculty of Moscow Lomonosow State University.

1967–1972 – study of classical philology in the philological Faculty of Moscow Lomonosow State University. Diploma summa cum laude.

1972–1997 – research fellow (junior – senior – leading – chief) in the Institute for Russian history of Russian Academy of Sciences (main job).

1972–1980 – teacher of classical languages in the philological Faculty of Moscow Lomonosow State University (complementary job).

1997– til now – chief research fellow in the centre "History of Eastern Europe in antiquity and Middle Ages" of the Institute for General History of Russian Academy of Sciences (main job).

2003–2015 – Professor, research fellow in the centre for Antiquity in Russian State University for Humanities (complementary job).

2008 – til now – chief of the Department for classical languages in the historical Faculty of Moscow Lomonosow State University (complementary job).

1980 – defended PhD dissertation "Ovid's Poetry as source for the history of Black Sea history".

1997 – defended habilitation dissertation "Space concepts in archaic cultures of Eurasia (orientation on cardinal points)".
