In May 2019 the Chair of Tourism / Center for Entrepreneurship welcomed Prof. Özay Yildiz, Ph.D. in part of an Erasmus+ program. Prof. Yildiz is Assistant Professor at the Department of Tourism Management in Foça at the Dokuz Eylül University.
Prof. Yildiz held a lecture in the master course "Theory and Strategy in Destination Management and Marketing" as well as in the expert seminar "Tourism Management".
Therefore, Prof. Yildiz provided insights into how destinations develop and how future planning for destinations could look like. Furthermore, he discussed place branding and different types of tourism products. He provided specific examples from his own field of research and gave important insights about tourism development in Turkey. He also reviewed current topics of the carrying capacity approach and showed the limits of an acceptable change.
During the stay of Prof. Yildiz, joint research projects could be outlined. In addition, there were meetings between the International Office and Prof. Yilidiz. A common cooperation in the future was discussed.
