From 22nd March until 2nd May (inclusive), the deadline for submitting applications is open. The award will consider all the initiatives –even the most incipient– that have been launched between January 2019 and April 2022 within the framework of CHEIs from anywhere in the world. For Dr. Ulrike Brok, Project Manager of the UNISERVITATE CEE&ME Hub at the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt, the Uniservitate Award can have a transformational impact both globally and locally: “The Global UNISERVITATE Award is a wonderful opportunity to give visibility and recognition to Service Learning activities worldwide. We are looking forward to receiving the submissions from CHEIs in the CEE&ME region and strengthening our local and international neworks.”
The experiences presented will be evaluated at the regional level –Uniservitate is a global network structured in 7 large regions– taking into account their quality, replicability, and the ability to inspire other initiatives. The name of the winners will be announced during the month of July. The Uniservitate Award will distribute a total of 84,000 euros, which will be used to give continuity to the awarded projects or to start others. In each region, 2 prizes will be given, worth 5,000 euros each, and 2 mentions, worth 1,000 euros. The two winners will also be able to travel to the III Global Symposium Uniservitate, which will take place in Rome from October 26th to October 30th.
The event, which brought together more than 140 participants from all over the world, was attended by representatives of the organisation and of the regional hubs that make up the Uniservitate Programme in the five continents. Among them: Ma. Rosa Tapia, Uniservitate (Argentina), Marietta Guanzon, De La Salle University (Philippines), Ulrike Brok, Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt, (Germany), Ariane Díaz Iso, University of Deusto, (Spain), Judith Pete, Tangaza University, (Kenya), Barbara McCrabb, United States Conference of Catholic Bishops-USCCB (USA), Kathia Reynders, Ku Leuven University, (Belgium), José Sepúlveda, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (Chile) and Nieves Tapia, CLAYSS (Argentina).
The award is organized by the Uniservitate Programme under the coordination of the Latin American Center for Service-Learning (Centro Latinoamericano de Aprendizaje y Servicio Solidario, CLAYSS) and Porticus, in adherence to the Global Compact on Education. In addition, it has the support of the regional hubs of the Programme: Tangaza University College (Nairobi, Kenya), De la Salle University (Manila, Philippines), Katholische Universität Eichstätt-Ingolstadt (Eichstätt, Germany), Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Leuven, Belgium), University of Deusto (Bilbao, Spain), Pontifical Catholic University of Chile (Chile), and the Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities in the United States, ACCU (Washington DC, United States).
