Student initiatives connected to sustainability

AK DenkNachhaltig! e.V.

"DenkNachhaltig! e.V." (Think sustainably) is the student organization for sustainability at the WFI Ingolstadt School of Managmenet. Its members are committed to promoting sustainable thinking and action within the university community. Through a variety of projects in collaboration with the university, as well as external partners from business, politics and society, and academia, they organize a wide range of initiatives — recently, for example, the launch of a book-swap cabinet, a trash cleanup, a vegan cooking night, and a presentation by a sustainable Austrian cosmetics company.

AK Kapuzinergarten

The Kapuzinergarten Eden is an urban community gardening project in the heart of Eichstätt. Urban gardening means community gardening right in the heart of the city. The Kapuzinergarten serves as an open space for meeting and learning — a place for growth, and not just for vegetables! Anyone who enjoys gardening and is interested in sustainability and climate protection is warmly welcome!

AK Mental Health Awareness

AK Mental Health Awareness focuses on breaking the taboos and stigma surrounding mental health disorders. Its members, who come from a wide variety of academic departments, conduct educational outreach, aim to raise awareness of mental health disorders beyond the KU, and serve as a first point of contact for those affected who need help. People affected by mental health issues, in particular, often hesitate to seek professional help in a timely manner.

In addition, AK Mental Health Awareness runs a “worries tree” and a sharing group that meets regularly. More information about these initiatives and current events can be found on the website and on the Instagram page.

AK Queer

AK Queer is the Student Representative Council’s queer working group, focused on equal opportunity for all students regardless of their sexual identity. In addition to a monthly get-together, we organize various events, such as those held on World AIDS Day, at the InterKulturOpenAir, or as part of the “Society Creates Gender” action week.

AK Wetterschau

The working group "AK Wetterschau" measures meteorological and aerobiological conditions using a weather station, portable temperature and humidity meters, and pollen traps, and uses this data to create a monthly poster. The poster describes the weather of the past month and features additional articles on topics such as definitions of terms or extreme weather events in Eichstätt.

CampusGrün

CampusGrün is a student organization affiliated with the German green party that advocates for social and environmental justice in society and at the University. Its members focus on alternative lifestyles, sustainable nutrition, critical consumer behavior, and more transparency in everyday university life.

SDS.DieLinke Hochschulgruppe Eichstätt

SDS stands for Socialist-Democratic Student Association. The organization is closely aligned with the German left-wing party Die LINKE and advocates for socialist, feminist, anti-fascist, anti-homophobic, and anti-capitalist causes. At the University, its focus is on greater student participation, sexual equality, accessibility, sustainability, and greater transparency.

SDS.Die Linke also runs the swap corner and, together with Foodsharing, the campus food-sharing initiative in the student center Studihaus.

Environmental department

The environmental department, which is made up of KU students, promotes an environmentally conscious lifestyle in and around Eichstätt, offers tips for more sustainable behavior in everyday life, and organizes events such as the clothing swap party or activities at the local orchard meadow.

Unicef University group Ingolstadt

The members of the UNICEF group in Ingolstadt are committed to children's rights, equal opportunity, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
