This is the KU's response to the rapidly increasing demand for qualified ethics teachers in Bavaria.

In the past, the subject was only available as a third subject for secondary school teachers. With the new course, the KU is setting an example for the professionalization and strengthening of philosophical education in schools. "Philosophy means learning how find orientation in the practice of thought", explains philosophy professor Imke von Maur. "The rapid development of artificial intelligence in particular is making the decisive difference in terms of critical thinking skills, genuine understanding and the ability to engage in discourse." The philosopher emphasizes the importance of a holistic education for prospective ethics teachers, in which the role of emotions and personal attitudes are central alongside theoretical knowledge. "Anyone who teaches ethics at school must be able to demonstrate an attitude – reflective, empathetic and strong in argumentation."
