KU Connect – a project funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) – supports our international students from various fields starting with study preparation, throughout their entire degree, and up to their transition into the German labor market. Through a series of interdisciplinary, study-accompanying, and career-preparatory measures, we aim to equip our students with the necessary language skills, cultural knowledge, and employability competencies to successfully study, work, and live in Germany. A particular focus is placed on gaining practical experience and early encounters with the business world already during their studies.
In recent years, it has become clear that international students face specific challenges when transitioning into the German labor market. These include, among others, language barriers or differing expectations between students and employers. Successfully navigating this transition is an important shared responsibility of universities, companies, and funding institutions. To specifically strengthen the potential of international talent and increase their opportunities in the German labor market, the DAAD has established the funding program for the integration of international students into study and professional life (“DAAD FIT - Campusinitiative”).
