Important information for students in English-taught degree programs

Students enrolled in English-taught degree programs who are required to provide proof of German language skills at level A2 within their first year of study are strongly advised to attend this course.

By completing the German Pre-Semester Course A1.1 and the subsequent semester-long A1.2 course, students can achieve the required German language level within one semester, provided they attend the course regularly and pass the final exams.

Course schedule

The German Intensive Pre-Semester Course generally takes place before the start of the lecture period. As student housing is usually available only from April 1 or October 1, the course begins online. After the official arrival day, classes are held in person. The A1.1 course usually takes place in Ingolstadt, while the other courses are offered in Eichstätt or Ingolstadt, depending on availability.

Required text books

Students who already have prior knowledge of German are required to take a placement test in advance. Based on the results, they will be assigned to the appropriate proficiency level.

Important Information Regarding Test Evaluation

Please note that only the result calculated according to the official KU conversion table (Language Center Conversion Table) is valid for course placement.

The percentage result displayed by the publisher is generally more generous and is not decisive for your course level assignment.

You must therefore convert your test result using the official Conversion Table of the KU Language Center.

At the start of the course, students must have the required textbook for their assigned level.
