In the domain of "Modern Languages", the language courses of the Language Center are usually compulsory modules or compulsory optional modules. The main focus here is the teaching degree (Lehramt). We offer language courses and cultural studies.

The following languages are part of the domain of "Modern Languages":

English, French, Italian, Spanish

 

 

Modern language courses are an integral part of the following courses of studies:

  • LehramtPlus and dual degree BA programs
  • BA Latin America Studies
  • European Studies "Language, Literature, Culture" (BA and MA)
  • Integrated German-French Political Science program (BA and MA)
  • BA Journalism
  • Flexible Bachelor’s and Flexible Master’s degree programs
  • Romance Studies - Economics – Geography (BA or BSc.)



The Language Center offers intensive courses for students without previous knowledge of Spanish and Italian. Intensive Course 1 starts four weeks before the winter semester, Intensive Course 2 takes place during the winter semester, and the 4-week Intensive Course 3 begins immediately after the winter semester and completes this group of courses.

The courses which are open to students of all faculties are targeted to those who wish to acquire university level foreign language abilities, require foreign language skills for their studies, and/or wish to prepare themselves for a stay abroad (e.g. a university exchange program, internship, international project, etc.). These courses are also intended for other students, such as those wishing to work overseas in the future or who will be working closely with international companies or institutions.

The Language Center offers students of all faculties the following languages:  Arabic, German as a foreign language, Czech, English, French, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Swedish and Turkish.

The language centre at the Catholic University of Eichstätt is responsible for providing all regular foreign language courses within the faculty of Economic Science. The courses offered include German courses for our international students, a TOEFL-preparation course and the preparatory courses in Spanish.

1. German courses for ERASMUS and international program students

Target group: Foreign students who are studying for one or two semesters at the KU (Ingolstadt campus).

All courses: place and time, as well as registration, see KU.Campus

  • German A1 (for beginners without previous knowledge)
  • German A2
  • German B1

 

2. TOEFL-preparation course (offered only in the summer semester)

Target group: Students who have to prove a TOEFL test for their semester abroad.

Place and time, as well as registration via KU.Campus.

 

3. Preparatory Courses in Spanish

A good basic knowledge of the language is required to participate in one of the Language for Economics courses at the faculty of Economic Science in Ingolstadt.

If you have no previous knowledge of Spanish, you can take part in the following courses at the Ingolstadt campus:

  • Winter semester: Spanish preparatory course A1, 4 hours per week
    Starting level: for beginners

  • Summer semester: Spanish preparatory course A2, 4 hours per week
    Starting level: at least completed A1 level

  • Winter semester: Spanish preparatory course B1.1 (= part 1 of the module), 3 hours per week

  • Summer semester: Spanish preparatory course B1.2 (= part 2 of the module), 3 hours per week

You can take one of the three Spanish preparatory courses with 5 ECTS credits as part of the module "Kultur und Gesellschaft".

If you have previous knowledge, a later entry into the courses is possible after talking to the lecturer.
