Social pedagogy as a practical science in an interdisciplinary context, particularly with the humanities and health sciences, has always been part of the humanities and social sciences tradition of the Chair of Social Pedagogy. In this sense, empirical and normative research is conducted and application-oriented analysis is carried out on the general actions of people in their life circumstances and in dealing with their life experiences on the one hand, and on the professional actions of social pedagogues on the other. This raises important empirical, anthropological, ethical, and social questions for social pedagogy regarding values as the basis for human preferences in general and the professional attitudes of social pedagogues in particular, as well as in institutional contexts.
