The Chair of Social Pedagogy engages, from an educational-science perspective, with transformative processes of education, upbringing, and socialization under conditions of (global) societal, political, and ecological upheaval. Its focus lies on questions of social inequality and participation, on the relevance of biography in the context of professional practice, on transitions across the life course, as well as on the forms, conditions, and (historical) development of socio-educational support across the entire lifespan. Research and teaching are guided by power-sensitive and memory-sensitive perspectives as well as by reconstructive research methods, and combine various social and action theories with empirical analyses.
