At the Young Researchers Day 2021, around 120 young researchers seized the opportunity to inform themselves about important aspects during the academic qualifiatation phase in a series of short lectures followed by Q&A sessions. This year, the focus was on the topic of "Good Scientific Practice".
In addition to presentations on Open Access or Research Data Management, the latest developments on the topic of "academic integrity" were also addressed in the concluding panel discussion entitled "Good Academic Practice in Research & Teaching" with our panelists Prof. Dr. Jens Hogreve, Vice President for Research and Young Academics, Prof. Dr. Joost van Loon, former Ombudsperson, and Dr. Thomas Brunner, Chair of the Interfaculty Examination Board.
In the postdoc workshop, participants were able to exchange ideas and experiences on the topic of "appointment procedures" with Prof. Dr. Kathrin Schlemmer, Professor of Musicology, Women and Equal Opportunity Officer at KU, Prof. Dr. Alexander M. Danzer Ph.D., Professor of Economics (Microeconomics) and Prof. Dr. Annika Schlitte, Professor of Aesthetics and Philosophy of Culture, University of Greifswald (alumna of KU). Key points were selection criteria, what makes a successful application, and what makes a good scientific lecture and teaching sample.
Special thanks go to all those who took up the challenge of presenting their research topic in a short film as part of the film competition "90 Seconds - getting to the heart of research". In our live voting, the film Change detection by Moritz Altmann, Jakob Rom and Fabian Fleischer from the Chair of Physical Geography came out on top in 2021.
