Participation in the Academic Careers workshops is free of charge for enrolled doctoral candidates, academic staff, postdocs, habilitation candidates and junior research group leaders at the KU.

Registration takes place exclusively via the ILIAS platform weiterbildung.ku.de. Junior researchers can log in immediately using their KU ID and register for the desired course (the registration button is located at the top right). Registrations by e-mail cannot be considered.

The binding allocation of places takes place approx. 6 weeks before the course date. If demand is high, places will be prioritised according to suitability for the target group, motivation and professional requirements. Information on this is collected in the enrolment form via specific questions or can be entered in a corresponding text field.

Once you have been accepted onto the course, you will receive a confirmation email via ILIAS. Approximately one to two weeks before the start of the course, you will receive an e-mail with further information about the location, agenda, etc.

If the minimum number of participants, usually seven, is not reached, the seminar will be cancelled. Persons who have already registered will be informed of the cancellation by e-mail.

Cancellation is usually possible up to two weeks before the start of the event. After that, cancellations can only be made by the Academic Careers team in justified cases. Therefore, please remember to cancel on your own and inform the Academic Careers team in good time if you are unable to attend. This not only gives people on the waiting list the chance to take part, but also gives the coaches and organisers planning security.

Attendance is compulsory for the entire event. In the event of repeated, unexcused non-attendance at the seminars, we reserve the right to give lower priority to future registrations or not to consider them at all, regardless of the time of registration.

By participating in the workshop programme, you consent to your name and email address being stored electronically and processed for a specific purpose and transmitted to the respective speaker for preparation purposes. This applies in particular to online events that are held on an external platform (e.g. Big Blue Button, Webex, Blink.it etc.).

In order to create a constructive and responsible working atmosphere, the camera must generally be switched on during online events.

You can download a certificate of attendance within 8 weeks of the event from the continuing education portal. To receive ECTS credits for the structured doctoral programme, please send the pre-filled form "Proof of Attendance" to akademische-karrieren(at)ku.de. Attendance of at least 80% is required for confirmation of participation.

Attending further training can be counted towards working hours if the respective superior agrees. Please discuss this with your superior before you register for an event. In principle, attendance can only be counted towards working hours within the normal working hours (Monday-Friday 7am-8pm).

The materials distributed at the events are protected by copyright and may not be redistributed or modified without the author's consent.

Catering will not be provided for face-to-face events. Therefore, please remember to provide yourself with drinks and/or food.
