Teaching at the KU: Interconnected education

“The inter- and transdisciplinary development of reality is a defining characteristic of our understanding of science and education. Our campus culture at both locations in Eichstätt and Ingolstadt creates excellent conditions for interdisciplinary and collaborative discourse between the subject areas. It is characterized, among other things, by an efficient scientific infrastructure, by the spatial proximity of the subjects and institutions, the cooperation with educational partners in the region, and by the possibility of diverse personal encounters. In view of increasingly global developments in society, culture, politics, science and business, it is also our concern to promote an international study and campus culture.“ - Excerpt from the Mission Statement for Studies and Teaching

In 2020, Dr. Sandra Stadler-Heer received the Good Teaching Award in the category "Special awards for exemplary use of digital teaching" for her "Accompanying courses for the internship in English accompanying the course of study". Stadler-Heer is lecturer with specified function at the Professorship of English Didactics. Against the backdrop of the Corona pandemic, she made distance teaching as an innovative teaching and assessment format the focus of her courses in the 2020 summer semester. Among other things, interactive self-learning materials for students were created, and short interactive training courses were designed by students for students and for experienced teachers. In order to ensure implementation of the accompanying courses and practical teaching experience for students, Stadler-Heer used a variety of interactive web tools to organize and plan virtual classes. Stadler-Heer also trained the internship teachers in the use of the technology and introduced them to the didactic and methodological features of virtual classrooms.
