Urban logistics

Nowadays, cities are facing many challenges. Urbanization is increasing the population in cities and the still growing e-commerce increases demand in cities, particularly in last-mile delivery. But not the transportation and logistics sector, also the mobility sector is reaching more and more often its limits.

The assistant professorship investigates and develops new business models, different logistics and mobility structures to improve this situation in urban areas. Hereby, not only operative planning problems but also tactical and strategic planning problems are addressed. Further, the different stakeholders are considered to find solutions for all involved parties.

Network and tour planning

We work on different applications in the area of network and tour planning. Questions, as the optimal location and transportation chain, are equally addressed as tour and route planning. Many applications can be found in urban areas but can and have been also applied to different industrial application.

Production planning

In collaboration with practical partners, different problems in the area of line feeding and production scheduling are addressed. The focus is not only on cost reduction but also on work-load balancing.
