In research, the assistant professorship primarily addresses problems in the area of logistics, transportation, supply chain and operations management. Specific focus is currently given to topics in urban logistics and urban mobility.
To tackle these problems, they are formulated as mathematical models and solved using state-of-the-art, both exact and efficient heuristic, methods. The latter ones are especially necessary for decision support tools when being applied in industry collaborations. Lately, the integration of data-driven approaches (big data) into current research questions plays a major role.
